Our Team

William Santoro, MD

FASAM, DABAM, Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine

With four decades of experience as an Addiction Medicine specialist, I am dedicated to advancing patient care in the field of addiction medicine. I established and led the Section of Addiction Medicine at Tower Health System for eight years, a role that was both professionally fulfilling and impactful. Seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth, I transitioned to my current role as Faculty of Addiction Medicine Services at St. Luke’s University Hospital Network, where I am helping to develop and expand addiction medicine services while also dedicating time to training medical students, interns, residents, Fellows, and attending physicians. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to clinical practice, continuing to provide direct patient care.

For over a decade, I have also served as a medical-legal consultant specializing in Addiction Medicine. My work involves providing objective, evidence-based evaluations for both plaintiffs and defendants, contributing to fair and informed legal proceedings. With extensive experience in depositions, courtroom testimony, and the preparation of expert reports, I bring integrity, clarity, and professionalism to every case.

Joelle Lauchner, DO

Internal Medicine

Dr. Joelle Lauchner is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and a respected leader in academic medicine. With a strong commitment to advancing patient care and medical education, she currently serves as the Associate Program Director of an Internal Medicine Residency Program and as the Ambulatory Clinic Director.

In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Lauchner serves as a physician expert witness through her consulting firm, JRL Expert Consulting Services, LLC. Her work in this field is grounded in fairness and clinical integrity. She has seen firsthand how exceptional physicians can be wrongly accused for delivering appropriate care—and conversely, how devastating it can be when a provider or health system fails a patient. Her balanced, evidence-based approach, combined with her leadership experience, makes her especially qualified to evaluate complex medical cases and provide clear, objective insight.

Dr. Lauchner’s clinical expertise spans complex diagnosis, preventive care, addiction medicine, pain management, and the care of medically complex patients. She considers herself an “ambulatory intensivist.” She is particularly skilled in the use of health informatics and understands its critical role in promoting patient safety and reducing medical errors. She brings this expertise to every case she reviews, ensuring her analyses reflect both clinical best practices and real-world system challenges.

Sarah Weiss, MD

Medical Toxicology, Emergency Medicine

Dr. Sarah Weiss is a medical toxicologist currently practicing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her undergraduate education at Hampshire College fueled her ongoing desire for learning and discovery. She returned to her home city of Philadelphia to attend Drexel University College of Medicine. She then went on to Emergency Medicine residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and toxicology fellowship at Einstein Healthcare Network.

Sarah’s favorite areas of interest in toxicology are critical poisonings by psychotropic agents and care of people who use drugs. She is particularly interested in the intersections between recreational substance use, self-harm, and mental health. Beyond toxicology, she cares deeply about teaching at all levels of training, from pre-medicine/high school to continuing medical education for practicing providers. She has given presentations specifically on the care of people who use drugs, LGBTQ+ patients, and done health outreach projects for those communities. She is invested in the care of underserved communities including those with drug dependence, un/underinsured, and those with housing insecurity.

As a medical-legal expert witness, she approaches cases and problems scientifically, with attention to detail. She prioritizes truthful, medically sound interpretations of toxicologic exams and testing, including post-mortem laboratory toxicologic testing.
